Cupping Therapy

Cupping therapy is a traditional healing practice that involves placing specially designed cups on the skin to create suction. This suction gently lifts the skin and underlying tissue, which is believed to improve blood flow, reduce muscle tension, and support the body’s natural healing processes. The cups may be made of glass, silicone, or plastic, and suction is created either by heat or a manual pump. During a session, the cups are typically left in place for several minutes, and they may leave temporary circular marks on the skin due to increased blood flow. Cupping therapy is commonly used to help with muscle pain, stiffness, inflammation, and relaxation. It has roots in various traditional medicine systems, including Chinese and Middle Eastern practices. While scientific evidence is still developing, many people report relief and improved well-being, making it a popular complementary therapy when performed by trained practitioners.
